UMTV: Church Provides Prom Dresses

The high school dance known as prom is a rite of passage in the U.S. that can carry a hefty price tag. The cost of tickets, outfits, flowers and photos can be too much for teens on a budget. Union Ridge United Methodist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina is helping more kids go to their prom. The church recycles formal wear through a clothing closet. Girls can select their dream dress for free thanks to donations from church members and the community. We visited the church in 2005 for this video story. The program is still going strong today.
