INDIANAPOLIS: The United Methodist Global AIDS Committee has issued a call for papers from United Methodists and others engaged with HIV/AIDS ministries and services. All submissions, which are due June 1, will be considered for workshop topics at the upcoming 2018 AIDS Conference. The event, titled "Breaking Barriers," is scheduled for October 25-27 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Anyone with knowledge to share on the following topics is welcome to submit a paper, which will be reviewed by the event committee:
• Research on HIV/AIDS
• Gender issues and HIV
• Living with HIV/AIDS
• Human Sexuality and HIV 
• Needs of People Aging with HIV

Authors of selected papers will be included in the workshop schedule.

The three-day event will gather conference speakers, panelists and worship leaders to present messages of hope, healing and inspiration. Special guests include Dr. Deborah Birx, Global AIDS coordinator and U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy ambassador; Hydeia Broadbent, AIDS activist; and Bishop Tracy Smith Malone from the East Ohio Annual Conference, and more.

Leaders in HIV/AIDS research, advocacy and ministry are invited to the conference, as well as anyone interested in reaching out to the HIV/AIDS community with a message of love.

More information, including registration details, is available online, along with scholarship applications for those needing financial assistance to attend. The conference fee of $125 includes four meals; a discounted group rate at a nearby hotel is available also. Registration deadline is October 1.
