The First United Methodist Church of Eugene, Oregon is currently accepting applications for the part-time positions of Organist/Pianist and Choir Director. This could be a combined position if the applicant is qualified in both areas.

FUMC has existed as a continuous congregation since 1854 and is a Reconciling Congregation. All people of any sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status, immigration status, age, race, ethnicity, mental or physical ability, or economic situation are welcome to attend, join, and participate fully in the life of our faith community in Christ. The church membership is approximately 375 with an average Sunday morning attendance of 130.

Worship on a typical Sunday contains a wide variety of musical styles. The Sanctuary has excellent acoustics, and the space is often used by outside groups for concerts as well as by our own Concerts@First Series. The Hochhalter organ is considered one of the finest in the Pacific Northwest. The 25-member Sanctuary Choir sings in worship most Sundays from September through mid-June. A small band is also included in worship.

Eugene is located in the Willamette Valley and has a population in excess of 300,000 in the area. It is home to the University of Oregon, the Oregon Bach Festival, a vibrant community of music organizations, an outstanding symphony orchestra, several small theater companies and excellent medical care. Within two hours a person can be in the Cascade Mountains, at the Pacific Ocean, or in Portland.
